Terms
The short version: Sift is a free tool that runs entirely in your browser. Your files and everything you export are yours. Use the tool lawfully, review every change before you rely on it, and understand that a free tool is provided as-is. That is genuinely most of it; the rest of this page spells it out.
Sift is a free, browser-based tool that cleans a CSV or Excel file and gets it import-ready for a CRM: deduplication, normalization, column mapping, and an import-readiness check. It is a static web app with no backend. Your file is processed entirely on your device and is never uploaded, which is covered in detail in the privacy policy.
Everything you load into Sift and everything you export from it belongs to you. Because your file never reaches us, we are not a processor of it in any sense: you remain the only party handling that data. That also means the legal responsibility for it is yours:
Sift is built so that you approve every change and can see an exact before-and-after diff. That design has a flip side: the final check is yours. Cleaning rules are deterministic but no automated rule understands your data perfectly, and CRMs change their import requirements over time. Review the diff, review the "needs your eyes" list, and keep your original file until you are happy with the result. We do not guarantee that any particular import into any particular system will succeed.
Sift's code, design, name, and site content belong to its operator. Sift is not open-source; you may not copy, resell, or redistribute the app or substantial parts of it. None of this touches your data: your files, your cleaning pipelines, and your exports are entirely yours, and we claim no rights over them whatsoever.
Sift is provided free of charge, "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. Features may change, and the service may be suspended or discontinued. Because everything runs on your device and your source file is never altered, discontinuation cannot take your data with it: anything you have exported is already yours, on your machine.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Sift and its operator are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from use of the tool, including lost data, lost profits, or a failed import. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law. The practical safeguard is built into the product: your original file is never touched, so you can always start again from it.

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any dispute belongs to the courts there.
If these terms change, we will update this page and the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will make that clear. Continuing to use Sift after a change means you accept the updated terms.
